You may wonder where we’ve been all summer. Well, apart from enjoying the lovely British weather (this time for real!) and developing new features, we have dedicated the past few months to listening carefully to our clients, holding user groups and gaining valuable feedback and input into our development road map for the coming months. The user groups were hosted using our new hybrid setup with the Public-i team and some participants in-room and the rest of the participants on Connect remote.

Back in July, we gave our Welsh clients a demo of our new solution for simultaneous interpretation in Connect Remote (our remote participation solution). We have now finished our implementation, which means Public-i Connect Remote can be used as an alternative to Zoom but makes it easier to stream to the public and of course, run electronic votes.
This new implementation works for participants on laptops (using Chrome or Edge Chromium)

And it also works on mobile devices. Users on mobile will need the latest update (21.4.8) which is available on Apple app store for iPads or Google play for Android devices (otherwise they will hear the translator at the same time as the speakers).

Users calling into the meeting through a normal telephone can benefit from simultaneous translation too. They can dial into the meeting and switch between audio channels using the key combination * 9.

The solution is already up and running. You can book a meeting in Connect Remote now. If you’ve not yet used Connect Remote, please ask your account manager to give you a little tour.

As always, thanks for your continued support and do not hesitate to let us know your feedback on these features and what we can do to improve them.
